As part of our work to bring the resources Veterans and their families need, VetCV is proud to support and partner with AHERO, a non-profit that serves America's Veterans by providing fellowship and mentoring opportunities through recreational activities. AHERO provides a supportive environment enabling Veterans to continue the healing process, so they can focus on their future and reconcile the traumatic events of their past in a healthy and constructive environment.
VetCV CEO, Niels Andersen and LtCol. Dave Glassman first met in 2007 as part of Congressman Jeff Miller's leadership team spearheading the first Emerald Coast Honor Flight to fly World War II veterans living in Northwest Florida to Washington, DC to visit the World War II memorial. They immediately recognized that they share a common mission and over the years, have supported each other in a number of initiatives supporting Veterans and their families. Join us and AHERO in their mission to help heal our Veterans, hearts and minds through camaraderie, esprit de corps and memorable experiences.

AHERO (America's Heroes Enjoying Recreation Outdoors) connects Veterans with patriotic members of local communities by organizing outdoor events and social activities. Their goal is to heal the physical and psychological wounds of war and military service by:
- Introducing Veterans to resources and programs available to them to increase their overall quality of life
- Developing an informal support network of Veterans across the country
- Encouraging constructive communication and engagement
- Boosting morale
The AHERO team understands the challenges today's war Veterans face in re-engaging the civilian world. AHERO has no paid staff members and keeps our overhead and administrative costs between 2%-6% of funds raised on an annual basis.
AHERO was conceived and founded by Major Lee Stuckey, U.S. Marine Corps. Maj. Stuckey has served three combat tours in Iraq. Maj. Stuckey has been awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with a "V" device for Actions of Valor during combat, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon, along with other military medals for outstanding service.
Lee's brain injury and emotional trauma of combat deployments led him to the edge of suicide. His story of reaching out for help inspired him to assist other Veterans.
